摘要: This paper discusses some of the anthropological andphilosophical features use self-managementplans by patients with a chronic disease, focusing onpatients asthma. Characteristics thistechnologically mediated form self-care arecontrasted work Mauss and Foucault on bodytechniques techniques self. The similaritiesand differences between self-management asthma andFoucault's technologies self highlight theways in which contributes tomodifications definitions andphysicians. Patients, measuring their lungfunction, first come to rely measurements more thanon felt disturbances, but next, disturbancesbecome modified previous measurements. Physicians,on other hand, see role changed from expertto being participant joint treatment. It isargued that concept agency is appropriatefor describing advantage forpatients than autonomy.
