摘要: The island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, has been shaped and deformed as a result collision with the Sula platform, sliver continental material from northern margin Australia-New Guinea. resulted in rotation north volcanic arm Sulawesi development accretionary wedge North trench. trench changes laterally zone no active deformation eastern part to wide west. Early stages thrusting produce steep frontal slope (8°–16°), indicative relatively high basal shear stress, whereas more advanced (western) produces gentle (2°) slope, consistent low stress. Reported paleomagnetic data suggest post late Eocene counter-clockwise Arm, offshore geophysics are explained by pivot Arm respect Celebes basin about end arc. Convergence between Banda Southeast is documented presence Tolo thrust. Its outcrop strongly arcuate its varies width minimum few kilometers at each maximum 30–40 km central part. transforms leftlateral Matano fault, reported offset 20 km. southern thrust projects toward rocks Buton, but structural relations there not clear. fault appears connect westward Palu which forms western transform Palu-Matano system acts trench-trench thrust, this described same pole that for Arm.
