Narrative writing competence and internal state terms of young adults clinically diagnosed with childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

摘要: Abstract Objective The first objective of this study was to compare the written expression competence young adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) that without ADHD on three types measures: indicators story's microstructure regard productivity and morphosyntax; macrostructure (story grammar); expressions mental states characters (internal state language). second consisted determining relationships among different narrative writing measures behavior ratings inattention obtained using family observer report. Method sample composed 54 participants, aged from 18 24, divided equally into a group childhood clinical diagnosis combined subtype control ADHD. Written composition assessed task based sequence images. Results As expected, significantly worse results than majority parameters macrostructure. Likewise, they included lower number terms about characters’ states. A correlation also observed between core symptoms ADHD, as well use words an emotional content estimations related Conclusion findings point out expressive should be in individuals part screening comprehensive evaluation.
