摘要: In the early days of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it was used strictly as a staging tool for biopsy-proven prostate cancers prior to surgery. It not until late 1990s that potential MRI localize tumors within recognized. last decade, has evolved include combination anatomical and functional MR sequences, creating so-called multiparametric (mpMRI). When in with transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) MRI-fusion-guided targeted biopsies, this method shown higher detection clinically significant reduced insignificant patients after negative systematic TRUS-guided biopsy. These promising results have led increased application mpMRI management suspected cancer biopsies defining candidates active surveillance.
