Health and Medical Care for the Elderly and Aged Population: The State of the Evidence†

摘要: Emerging statistics emphasize the special needs of elderly for health and medical care services. A variety services are being recommended to meet these needs, but few them have been subjected rigorous study determining efficacy, effectiveness or cost. Examination about 1,000 studies published between 1967 1978 revealed only 7 that met predetermined criteria well-designed executed investigations. The varied finally recognized, undoubtedly pressure will be increased meeting needs. In this era finite monetary resources budgetary restraints, we need better data upon which base selection aged. Resources needed provide known benefit should not diverted unknown benefit.
