摘要: To evaluate the effects of childhood and poorly controlled insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) on counterregulatory hormone symptomatic responses to hypoglycemia, we studied 16 nondiabetic children (13 ± 2 yr), 19 adults (26 3 13 with IDDM (14 yr, HbA1, 15.1 3.3%) during a gradual reduction in plasma glucose glucose-clamp technique. Plasma was reduced from ∼5 ∼2.8 mM over 240 min serial assessment levels symptom awareness. The level that triggered sustained rise epinephrine consistently higher than (3.9 0.06 vs. 3.2 mM, P < 0.001). Poorly further elevated threshold for release normoglycemic (4.9 0.2 0.001 both control groups). Age also produced an upward shift at which growth awareness were initiated. In contrast effect thresholds, maximal scores increased only by age not (2-fold children). We conclude poor independently contribute thresholds mild hypoglycemia. Normoglycemic counterregulation may interfere efforts young patients.
