摘要: The Indo-Asia collision significantly changed the topography and drainage network of rivers around Tibetan Plateau. Debate continues as to when how current system Yangtze River was formed. Here we use 40Ar/39Ar dating detrital micas (muscovite biotite) constrain provenances Pliocene sediments from Jianchuan Yuanmou basins in SE Tibet. Muscovite biotite data same samples Basin suggest contrasting distal versus local sources, respectively. Similarly, muscovite a derivation Yalong River, but characteristics cobbles (paleocurrent subrounded cobbles) that these are locally sourced. Sediment reworking is proposed an explanation for different sediment provenance signals have led controversy either Pleistocene or pre-Miocene age formation Yangtze. Based on constraints, evolution Jinsha reconstructed. upper lost its connection with southward flowing Red upstream basin at least before Pliocene. At time parallel site shows stopped into this basin. Detrital mica early Panzhihua between basins, sourced rivers.
