摘要: Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is a vascular neoplasm caused by infection with human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8). Epidemic KS found among persons HIV infection; it the most common malignancy in worldwide. Two decades after HHV-8 was first identified, much now known about how chronic leads to development of KS. likely transmitted via saliva cases. The virus, host, and possibly environmental factors all contribute risk developing Heterogeneous clinical manifestations disease feature skin mucous membrane involvement adults, advanced involving thoracic or abdominal viscera. Pediatric unusual outside sub-Saharan Africa, but typically characterized lymph node cutaneous disease. also may be presenting manifestation an immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome HIV-infected patients initiate antiretroviral therapy, can co-morbid other HHV-8-associated diseases including multicentric Castleman primary effusion lymphoma. For access ART and/or chemotherapy, survival diagnosis excellent, responses therapy are often incomplete new therapies for needed.
