Dependence of Rayleigh Line Intensity on Scattering Angle in Aligned Nematie Liquid Crystals

摘要: In a laboratory framework, the cross-section I(\hat i,\hat s)(α, θ, ; K1/K3, K2/K3, n//, n⊥) has been numerically calculated and graphically presented in (α, ) space for fixed θ values; specify average director direction α is scattering angle. Parameter values used are Frank elastic constants, K1, K2 K3, indices of refraction, n// n⊥, MBBA at 20°C. The depends on whether states polarization incident scattered lights, \hat i s, extraordinary (E) or ordinary (O). Among four cases, I(O,O) always zero; when α<10°, I(E,E) about 10 times as strong I(E,O) I(O,E). consists two terms, I1 I2, which due to mode 1 2 fluctuations, respectively. Several geometries have found where either I2 zero very small compared with other. patterns characterized by several lines, may be determining so-called "tilt angle". To demonstrate this possibility, θ=90° observed function varying parameter. temperature variation also discussed.
