摘要: Abstract This paper summarises the results of krill demographic studies from BROKE—a large-scale survey off East Antarctica conducted in January – March, 1996. The progressed 80°E late to 150°E mid March. Krill varied mean size across area, and various maturity stages showed some longitudinal latitudinal trends. Males, early stage females, juveniles were, on average, larger east area whereas gravid spent females differed little length area. Gravid were only found north shelf break; juveniles, males other throughout extent survey. Growth rate measurements resulted comparable figures Indian Ocean greatest February for all stages. Observed growth rates sufficient account changes sizes observed density revealed by nets (2.65 per 1000 m −3 ) was low compared areas that have been surveyed. Similarly, overall estimates proportional recruitment below average when range reported values. larvae moderately abundant but more frequently encountered east, which is probably a function lateness season would be rising into surface layer sampled net.
