摘要: Abstract We present the first description of benthic foraminifera from lower Oligocene Antarctic Peninsula sector (South Shetlands) West Antarctica. The single assemblage was collected at several sites and has no modern analogue. It is dominated by robust calcareous species represents a fan-delta front system. includes group most morphologically conservative known other Cenozoic neritic around Antarctica, indicating their presence since least Eocene. Despite including some characteristic taxa, e.g., Ammoelphidiella sp., it difficult to correlate this with any particular interval Ross Sea record, mainly because strong taxonomic imprint shallow water environment.
