摘要: Abstract A study of the structure electromagnetically produced shocks has been made which illustrates a technique for measurements either photoionization cross sections, σ i , or number densities, n plasma particles. This utilizes intensity ratios, I / 0 due to absorption ultraviolet radiation, is governed by Lambert-Beers law, = exp (-Σ L ) where length path. Due complex band diatomic molecules, this experiment used instead rare gas, xenon, densities Xe and + . Plots neutral ion as function time show clearly shock front defined sharp rise in particle density. Relaxation times effects precursors were also studied.
