摘要: . Diverse analytical and experimental results confirm that two protistan parasites, Perkinsus chesapeaki andrewsi, described separately as parasites of Mya arenaria Macoma balthica clams sympatric in Chesapeake Bay, USA, represent a single species. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, rRNA large subunit (LSU) gene, actin gene sequences were obtained from clonal spp. cultured vitro. Although multiple polymorphic found DNA cultures at each locus, identical ITS region the P. andrewsi holotype culture sp. M. Tagelus plebius. All determined locus grouped together monophyletic clades with high support values phylogenetic analyses. In vitro isolates reciprocally infective for other's cognate host. Lesions histozoic parasite cell morphologies consistent those original host/parasite interactions. isolate cycles types both indistinguishable. accordance International Code Zoological Nomenclature rules priority, is declared junior synonym chesapeaki.
