摘要: Abstract Ribonuclease-resistant nucleic acid structures were isolated from plants infected with the S strain of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV). The behavior these acids in relation to corresponding single-stranded (ss) RNAs rate zonal centrifugation experiments and/or polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis suggested that they are double-stranded (ds) CMV and CMV-associated RNA 5 (CARNA 5). yields ds different host varied significantly. In plant-inoculum combinations producing large amounts CARNA 5, dsRNAs consisted for 90% or more dsCARNA while two five times higher than absence 5. Separation viral was accomplished by on sucrose gradients, resulted a gel-electrophoretically pure product. This material hybridized 3 H-labeled competition hybridization only 9% radioactivity [ H]CARNA would not have at infinitely high concentration 1 + 2 3, none 4. Thus, has no nucleotide sequence homology 4, and, most 0.1 its occurs genomic CMV.
