摘要: In the last decade, stereotypical dilapidated backpacker hostel, with a 'drop-out' manning front desk and bed bugs in dorm rooms, has become increasingly anachronistic. Professional management large companies are now leading sector. While much been written about demand characteristics behaviour of traveller (Loker-Murphy Pearce, 1995; Sorensen, 2005; O'Reilly, 2006), little research conducted into changing aspects market supply. Of particular significance is recent rapid transformation accommodation provision for this group from small-scale, non-profit or individually owned businesses to resort-style developments. This paper addresses phenomenon as it affects one world's destinations, Australia. Accordingly we explore history Australia, identify reasons corporatization segment offer some insight its future direction.
