摘要: Challenging the existing literature, which tends to downplay impact of good governance reform in post-Suharto Indonesia, article suggests that greater intervention by international donors, combined with process decentralisation, has influenced dynamics political competition at local level. It increasing availability aid provided elites an option engage a new form patronage politics relies less on old instruments, such as money and violence.
