摘要: Abstract Purpose: A practical method to achieve prostate immobilization and daily target localization for external beam radiation treatment is described. Methods Materials: Ten patients who underwent brachytherapy using permanent radioactive source placement were selected study. To quantify motion both with without the presence of a specially designed inflatable intrarectal balloon, computerized tomography–based coordinates all intraprostatic sources compared over 3 consecutive measurements at 1-min intervals. Results: The inflation balloon well tolerated by patients. mean (range) displacement gland when was present vs. absent 1.3 (0–2.2) mm 1.8 (0–9.1) ( p = 0.03) 2 min respectively. maximum in any direction (anterior–posterior, superior–inferior, or right–left) inflated reduced ≤1 from 4 mm. Conclusions: Both verification are possible balloon. Using this device, posterior margin necessary on lateral fields ensure dosimetric coverage entire could be safely 5 set up verified portal image.
