摘要: Comets are icy bodies that sublimate and become active when close to the Sun. They believed originate in two cold reservoirs beyond orbit of Neptune: Kuiper Belt (equilibrium temperatures approximately 40 kelvin) Oort Cloud (approximately 10 kelvin). We present optical data showing existence a population comets originating third reservoir: main asteroid belt. The main-belt unlike they likely formed where currently reside may be collisionally activated. lends new support idea objects could major source terrestrial water.
