Giant asymptomatic intracranial hydatid cyst in a 3 years old child: Case report

摘要: ObjectiveAlthough hydatid cysts are known commonly to affect the liver and lung, it can also brain (1-2% of cases). Brain involvement is more seen in children (50-75% intracranial cysts), usually has intraparenchymal localization. In this paper we present a case 3 years old child diagnosed incidentally with giant cyst.Case presentationThe patient was admitted hospital mild craniocerebral trauma, an epicranial haematoma. The clinical neurological examinations were normal. CT scan revealed solitary cystic lesion, located left fronto-parietal lobe, features suggestive cyst. removal cyst, without rupture, performed using Dowling technique modified by Arana-Iniguez. Postoperatively exam normal asymptomatic at 7 months follow-up.ConclusionThe cyst enlarges slowly, but variable, growth being higher children, whom reach dimensions or minimal symptoms. It benign rupture very important.
