Human papillomavirus vaccination for the prevention of cervical neoplasia: is it appropriate to vaccinate women older than 26?

摘要: Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are the major cause of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer mortality has been reduced in Australia because effective screening programs, but there still about 800 new cases and 300 deaths per year. Worldwide, morbidity high. was first country to introduce fully funded immunisation with a quadrivalent HPV vaccine for girls aged 12 13 schools. A 2-year catch-up program covers all women age 26 years. Age stratification prevalence showed highest rates under 25 years age, decrease from 30 second smaller peak those over 45 Recently, bivalent licensed use up Older have robust immune responses vaccine, so should derive benefit if exposed type 16 or 18 future. It is likely that this will need be purchased by older group (27-45 years).
