摘要: Abstract Background Few comparisons have been made of health care seeking behaviour for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) between men and women, as well trends across age groups. Objective To investigate the bother from LUTS effect on in both women different groups comparison two genders. Design, setting, participants A representative cross section each 13 clinics a general academic hospital, with equal numbers subjects recruited six design cells that were defined by (18–40, 41–60, 61–80 yr) gender. Intervention 2-h in-person interview, conducted trained psychologist/interviewer clinic office. Measurements Severity was measured International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). Treatment single item. question modified to assess overall bother. Impact quality life (QoL) IPSS QoL question. Results limitations The final study sample comprised 415 patients. More than reported presence (85.5% vs 75.2%; p =0.01). more bothersome (25.4% 17.6% "some" or "a lot"; =0.02). increased genders (men: =0.03). Bother severity ( =0.40), men, but not likely seek treatment Conclusions In our hospital-based sample, differences frequency, bother, profiles suggest perception response
