摘要: Background The Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program is an Affordable Care Act funding initiative designed to expand primary care residency training in community-based ambulatory settings. Statute suggests, but does not require, underserved Residents who train settings are more likely go on practice similar settings, and graduates often than near where they have trained. Objective The objective of this study was describe quantify federally designated clinical continuity sites the THCGME program. Methods Geographic locations were collected characterized as Professional Shortage Area, Medically Underserved Population, or rural areas, compared with distribution Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS)-funded positions. Results More half teaching health centers (57%) located states that 4 quintiles lowest CMS-funded resident-to-population ratio. Of 109 identified, 70% high-need areas.
