摘要: Cosolvents can be used to tailor supercritical fluid solvents for increased selectivity by increasing the solvent polarity or polarizability and participating in specific interactions with solutes. Specific these fluids are often inferred from thermodynamics measurements although independent confirmation of structure cosolvent/solute is lacking. The solutes 2-naphthol, 5-cyano-2-naphthol, 7-azaindole exhibit well-characterized spectral responses an organized, hydrogen-bonded environment liquids. We describe fluorescence UV absorption experiments probe interaction between polar cosolvents a variety fluids. In addition, new solubility data reported CO[sub 2] without methanol ethane. results suggest that cosolvent solute strong yet no evidence actual complexes solution. 57 refs., 13 figs., 6 tabs.
