摘要: The theory of coupled phase oscillators provides a framework to understand the emergent properties networks neuronal oscillators. When architecture network is dominated by short-range connections, pattern electrical output predicted correspond traveling plane and rotating waves, in addition synchronized output. We argue that this foundation for understanding waves are observed across olfactory, visual, visuomotor areas cortex variety species. typically present during periods outside stimulation, while synchronous activity dominates presence strong stimulus. suggest continuum shifts epochs with means scan incoming sensory stream novel features. Experiments test our theoretical approach presented.
