摘要: Ganglioside function in eukaryotic cells encompasses a variety of modulatory interactions related to both development and mature cellular behavior. In relation the nervous system this includes induction neurite outgrowth trophic/neuroprotective phenomena; more generally applies ganglioside effects on receptor function, adhesion reactions, signal transduction mechanisms neural extraneural systems. Underlying many these trophic are ganglioside-induced changes calcium, accomplished through modulation Ca2+ influx channels, exchange proteins, various Ca2+-dependent enzymes that altered association with gangliosides. A clear distinction needs be drawn between intrinsic functions gangliosides as naturally expressed by cell activities created application exogenous ganglioside(s) may or not reflect natural function. This review attempts summarize findings area point possible future directions research.
