Investigation of Whispering Gallery Modes in Circular Arrays of Dielectric Spherical Particles using multisphere Mie Scattering formalism

In this paper we address following question: can bound modes be formed in dielectric systems where is negligible? Our investigation circular spherical particles within framework multisphere Mie scattering theory using simplest dipolarlike approach shows that (1) an array 10 or more attained at least for refractive index n > 2, so optical materials like TiO2 GaAs used; (2) most nearly transverse polarization perpendicular to plane; (3) particularly interesting case (rutile phase, = 2.7), mode increases almost by order magnitude with addition extra while made two orders ten particles. The consideration higher multipole contributions has demonstrated error dipolar does not exceed one percent if nr greater than 2. Minimum acceptable disordering affecting studied.
