摘要: Daniel Rutherford is credited with the discovery of nitrogen (N) in 1772. A.L. Lavoisier, 18th century French chemist, called this element “azote” which translates to “without life” because free N incapable supporting life: a fitting name for given paradoxes it presents society and its role global ecology. Despite being most abundant atmosphere, usually quoted as 78% by volume, primarily N2, life on planet does not rely either uptake or release two important complimentary biological processes, namely respiration photosynthesis. Nonetheless, has long been heralded commonly limiting mineral nutrient plant growth around globe, indeed essential formation amino acids, thus proteins, all forms. No other studied more extensively context agricultural forest ecosystems than N, yet at no time past there greater interest research addressing information needs regarding N.
