摘要: Aim Cholangitis is a well-known complication that contributes to morbidity, mortality, as well health-care utilisation in children with biliary atresia who have undergone the Kasai portoenterostomy. The aim of study was determine common causative organisms for cholangitis and characterise its burden, resource service cost. Methods This retrospective chart review underwent portoenterostomy our institution from 1988 2011. were identified based on culture reports. burden disease estimated number patients experiencing one or more episodes cholangitis. Health-care different categories, cost computed charges at institution. Results Twenty-seven (64.3%) out 42 included analysis experienced least episode There total 97 cholangitis, an average 3.6 (1–15) per patient. length stay 14.8 (2–64) days. Common isolated during blood cultures Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus, Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa. in-patient admission 15 days (rounded off) single $SG 8986.61 ($US 7369.02). Conclusion The knowledge about incidence will allow physicians counsel parents newly diagnosed better prepare them both emotionally financially what expect.
