摘要: A large grey iron foundry was facing remediation of a surface impoundment containing approximately 300,000 cubic yards EP-Toxic sludge. The sludge generated by the settling wastewater solids from air emission control systems connected with cupola melting operations. Bench-scale treatability testing used to evaluate various chemical treatment possibilities for rendering non-EP-Toxic. Several phosphate sources and different engineering options were evaluated cost-effectiveness full-scale remediation. most economical option dredge continuously as slurry (while remained in operation) injection phosphoric acid into pipeline. process controlled monitoring residual treated slurry. tested month-long field trial using equipment, followed successful during 6-month period. technical overview performance data on are presented.
