摘要: Today's petrochemical industry is an amazing model of production efficiency, taking crude oil and supplying thousands discrete chemicals materials from just seven primary building blocks. Renewable raw offer a new set blocks including carbohydrates in the form cellulose, starch, homicellulose, monomeric sugars, aromatics lignin, hydrocarbons fatty acids polyols glycerol. Yet chemical today overwhelmingly dominated by oil, principally because conversion technology for renewables still lags far behind that available nonrenewables. Technology needed will lead to based processes rival or exceed diversity efficiency today's industry. The cellulose Materials division (CELL) American Chemical Society offered forum this topic Feedstocks Future: Renewables Materials, at national ACS meeting Anaheim, CA, March 28-April 1, 2004. This symposium included discussions emerging technologies renewable blocks, mechanistic understanding these processes, development catalytic tailored renewables, life cycle process analysis identification structures could serve as platforms renewables-based product families. book intended have strong emphasis on organic chemistry, mechanism, structure, novel synthesis chemicals, polymers materials. More specifically, reader find information following areas: 1) transformations 2) oleochemical processes; uses glycerol 3) transition metal catalyzed carbohydrates, acids, glycerol, etc. 4) economic, environmental, derived 5) polymeric 6) biocatalytic 7) industrialuses
