摘要: ;Carcinoid' tumours of the rectum have been described which are classified on histological appearances into three main varieties: ;true' carcinoid or argentaffinoma, ;atypical' non-argentaffin carcinoid, and ;composite carcinoid. The histogenesis these is discussed it suggested that carcinoids an essentially similar to certain lung, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract. difference in growth, pattern, staining reactions a reflection differing directions levels differentiation parent epithelium. functional implications this hypothesis discussed.
