摘要: Wastewater treatment plants, while performing the important function of treating wastewater to meet prescribed discharge standards, consume energy and a variety chemicals. This paper analyses consumption chemicals by plants in Oslo over eight years, their potential environmental impacts. Global warming acidification were dominant impacts for energy, respectively. Avoided due usable by-products - sludge, ammonium nitrate biogas play key role shrinking footprint plants. The scope decreasing this streamlining is limited, however, considering that 70% impact accounted eutrophication (thanks nitrogen phosphorus which discharged sink) treated effluent wastewater.
