摘要: Before the recent implementation of Hague Convention requirements on intercountry adoption in Guatemala, most children process being adopted by foreign nationals were cared for foster parents. In present study, 16 Guatemalan parents interviewed regarding their experiences with and attitudes toward international domestic fostering. Although was generally described positive terms as a means to improve child's future, respondents also emphasized economic dimension adoption. Foster parents’ views implied actions that are important requirements, including addressing poverty root cause child relinquishment, reducing structural attitudinal barriers adoption, enlisting aid extended families caring children.
