Towards diversity in genomics: The emergence of neurogenomics in Africa?

摘要: There is a high burden of mental and neurological disorders in Africa. Nevertheless, there appears to be an under-representation African ancestry populations large-scale genomic studies. Here, we evaluated the extent Africans neurogenomic studies GWAS Catalog. We found 569 studies, which 88.9% were exclusively focused on people with European remaining 11.1% having cases included. In terms population, only 1.2% total involved these descent. Further, most individuals category identified African-Americans/Afro-Caribbeans, highlighting huge homogenous Efforts geared at establishing strong collaborative ties European/American researchers, maintaining freely accessible biobanks comprehensive genome data repositories track variations are critical for propelling neurogenomics/precision medicine
