摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the consequences of imbalance between immigration and emigration, for population dynamics distribution adaptive evolution. It models source–sink dynamics. First, a simple patch model is introduced used to discuss concept meaning habitat-specific reproductive value; then extensions basic are discussed. The also contains discussion on main theoretical predictions concerning effect structure dynamics, size, distribution, persistence, stability, followed by review relevant empirical data. focuses reasons which individuals may disperse into sink habitats. Integration with extinction–colonization metapopulation concludes some thoughts future research directions applied aspects structure.
