摘要: Tannery effluent is characterized not only by heavy loads but also with toxic metals especially chromium ions. Chromium considered an important source of contamination due to large volume exhaust liquid discharged and solid sludge produced. Details on adsorption studies were carried out using synthetic salts (chromium chloride) as adsorbate, cement kiln dust (a waste from white industry) adsorbent. Equilibrium isotherms have been determined for the ions dust. Kinetic study provided that process diffusion controlled. The experimental results fitted Freundlich, Langmuir, Redlich Peterson isotherms. maximum capacity was found be 33 mg/g. Industrial tannery (22-mg/L COD 952 mg/L) treated (using 20 g per 1 L) contains 0.6 mg/L 200 mg/L.
