摘要: Transformation in bacteria is the uptake and incorporation of exogenous DNA into a cell's genome. Several species transform naturally during regulated state defined as competence. Genetic elements Streptococcus pneumoniae induced transformation were identified by combining genetic screen with genomic analysis. Six loci discovered that composed competence-induced regulon. These shared consensus promoter sequence encoded proteins, some which similar to proteins involved processing other bacteria. Each locus was competence essential for transformation.
