摘要: Background: Early intervention significantly decreases the impact of bipolar disorder. However, there is little research investigating triggers that may be unique precipitants manic/hypomanic episodes, and how these differ from specific to depression, in young adults with Methods: Individuals aged 18 30 years who had been diagnosed disorder (n¼ 198) completed an online survey identify mania/hypomania as well which were common both. Respondents rated frequently a series situations behaviours precipitated either episode or depressive past. Survey data was supplemented by in-depth face-to-face interviews (n ¼11). Results: Triggers specifically associated onset episodes included falling love, recreational stimulant use, starting creative project, late night partying, going on vacation listening loud music. stressful life events, general stress, fatigue, sleep deprivation, physical injury illness, menstruation exercise.
