摘要: Hemocyanin-O2 affinity differs in estuarine and seaside populations of the blue crab Callinectes sapidus. The difference, which is adaptive, accompanied by different proportions six subunits that make up native hemocyanin polymers. When hemocyanins are dissociated separated alkaline electrophoresis, can be resolved most individuals but two either present low concentrations or absent from individuals. A third subunit also variable variation not clearly correlated with locality. O2 binding measurements Hcs major wild phenotypes collected at same locality reproduce difference between natural populations. Measurements on several intermediate suggest one more important physiologically than other two.
