摘要: Angiostrongylus vasorum is a metastrongyloid nematode that may cause cardiopulmonary disease, neurological signs and coagulopathies in dogs. The parasite has an indirect life cycle with molluscs as intermediate hosts, which the infective third larval stage develops. Recently, A. been repeatedly reported dogs outside endemic areas, indicating this widely distributed over Europe. This first record of autochthonous infection dog from Slovakia was casually diagnosed during routine preventive parasitological examination. first-stage larvae were recovered using Baermann technique identified by length characteristic tail morphology. animal originated had not travelled abroad. regularly walked on grass fields concentrated presence common species Gastropoda frogs. owner licking eating it shown curiosity for finding vasorum-infected confirmed spreading beyond traditional hyperendemic foci, accentuates need monitoring increasing disease awareness primary care clinical practice.
