摘要: Sialomucin complex (SMC) is a high Mr glycoprotein heterodimer, originally discovered on the cell surfaces of ascites sublines highly metastatic 13762 rat mammary adenocarcinoma, and composed mucin (ASGP-1) transmembrane (ASGP-2) subunits. SMC encoded by single gene synthesized as large precursor protein which cleaved into its subunits early in transit to surface. exhibits behavior typical both membrane secreted mucins. In cells, it found only form, creating protective barrier at surface reduce adhesiveness protect tumor from immune killing. Normal tissues express formand non-membrane may be either constitutive or regulated, secretory granule mechanisms. This soluble form proposed contribute multilayer mucus gels epithelia, though also play other roles. ASGP-2 contains two EGF-like domains, one binds receptor tyrosine kinase ErbB-2. Thus, bifunctional protein, serving function domain possibly playing role proliferation cells repair processes necessary for maintenance damaged epithelia.
