Refining the preconditions of a social licence to operate (SLO): reflections on citizens’ attitudes towards mining in two Finnish regions

摘要: Abstract The debate around the social licence to operate (SLO) has been lively in recent years. In its elementary forms, SLO is interpreted as acceptance granted by a community mineral exploration and mining activities. Our theoretical assumption that concept both case-specific more general, contingent, among other things, upon public opinion. this study, considered general anticipatory sense it can act precondition for individual SLOs. intention contribute especially novel research focusing on background factors contributing SLO. Using survey data (N = 1064), we explore relationships of potentially connected two Finnish regions where last decade growing industry. We are concerned with connection between acceptability six measured nine variables. findings show investigated indeed but not any straightforward manner.
