摘要: Tracer lamina are small-scale features appearing in the vertical profiles of long-lived tracers such as ozone and modified potential vorticity. Appenzeller Holton [1997] diagnosed production tracer laminae from satellite data assimilated fields using a quantity which they referred to lamination rate (L). Subsequent studies with L have shown that this diagnostic must be treated some caution. Two limitations calculated low-resolution horizontal been identified discussed here. First, does not refer scales at formed, second, on is relevant there reversible contribution, due propagation planetary waves. This contribution demonstrated simple model steady stationary Rossby wave. The magnitude component estimated found significant fraction data.
