Network-Wide Decision Making: Toward A Wafer-Thin Control Plane

摘要: We argue for the refactoring of IP control plane to provide direct expressibility and support network-wide goals relating all fundamental functionality: reachability, performance, reliability security. This is motivated by trends in operational practice networking technology. put forward a design that decomposes functionality into information dissemination decision planes. The formed lifting out routers making logic currently found there merging it with current management where network-level objectives are specified. What left on each router wafer-thin focused response explicit instructions configuring packet forwarding mechanisms. discuss consequences, advantages challenges associated this design.
