摘要: Publisher Summary The main function assigned to the superior colliculus is saccadic redirection of eyes and/or head toward a suddenly appearing visual or other stimulus. effects damaging stimulating in rodents have demonstrated its involvement wide variety responses appropriate novel sensory stimuli. These are: (1) Approach movements: these movements are directly influenced by stimulation parameters. Thus, control their velocity and amplitude independently. (2) Avoidance escape responses: elicited from naturally threatening stimuli also produced electrical pharmacological colliculus, impaired collicular damage. (3) Physiological occurring approach avoidance typically accompanied range physiological reactions, which colliculus. chapter discusses that if different output channels functionally distinct, they might be expected distinctive patterns non-sensory input. In rat, rostrolateral intermediate layers associated tecto-medullary projection concerned primarily with non-saccadic movements, whereas tecto-periabducens more movement.
