摘要: Abstract Environmental variability, in the form of disturbance, is critically important for metapopulations. Their spatial subdivision makes possible regional coexistence inferior competitors (fugitive species) that are unable to persist locally. It known such depends on frequency disturbance relative rates dispersal and competitive exclusion. In this paper, effects spectral “color” environmental variation a simple two-species competition model considered. A two-state Markov chain developed describe environment; its single parameter can be tuned give power spectrum emphasizes low frequencies (red) or high (blue), contains all equally (white). Coupling nonlinear two competing species, study considers interacting losing competitor, local species richness, heterogeneity (beta diversity), Smoluchowski recurrence time patch states. general, red more difficult reduces diversity. However, details patterns depend competition.
