摘要: The seasonal effect is the most significant external source of variation affecting vascular cambial activity and development newly divided cells, hence wood properties. Here, edapho-climatic conditions on phenotypic molecular plasticity differentiating secondary xylem during a growing season was investigated. Wood-forming tissues maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) were collected from beginning to end in 2003. Data examination fibre morphology, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), analytical pyrolysis, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) combined characterize samples. Strong observed response changes conditions. A genomic approach used identify genes differentially expressed this season. Out 3512 studied genes, 19% showed effect. These clustered into five distinct groups, largest two representing over-expressed early- or late-wood-forming tissues, respectively. other three clusters characterized by responses specific This work provides new insights machinery involved formation, reveals candidate potentially responsible for differences found between late-wood.
