Social Capital, Human Capital, and Reaching Out for Help with Domestic Violence: A Case Study of Women in a Vietnamese‐American Community

摘要: This paper uses the social capital framework, with a focus on women’s location in multiple contexts, including family, community, and metropolitan area, both positive negative results of capital, to enhance knowledge about abused patterns seeking help. Data from in‐depth interviews 62 women living one Vietnamese‐American community indicate that immigrant can be source help, but also limit connecting full range potential help providers. Family friends give much needed emotional material often encourage not use legal system.
