摘要: Metastasis remains the main cause for cancer-related deaths due to lack of effective therapy. The clonal selection model has long been thought be primary mechanism metastatic progression but many different mechanisms have hypothesized from tumorigenesis successful dissemination and expansion tumor cells at secondary site. MicroRNAs, germline polymorphisms in combination with microenvironment are few pathways explain cascade. Technological advances high-throughput screening such as expression profiling, next generation sequencing, well global network analyses advanced studies these mechanisms. Combined new insights into various metastasis a systems biology approach also shown useful identifying metastasis-specific gene signatures predicting disease outcome. Furthermore, results relevant biomarkers disease.
