摘要: Diabetic foot ulcers represent a significant health issue. Currently, clinicians and nurses mainly base their wound assessment on visual examination of size healing status, while the patients themselves seldom have an opportunity to play active role. Hence, more quantitative cost-effective method that enables caregivers take role in daily care potentially can accelerate healing, save travel cost reduce healthcare expenses. Considering prevalence smartphones with high-resolution digital camera, assessing wounds by analyzing images chronic is attractive option. In this paper, we propose novel image analysis system implemented solely Android smartphone. The captured camera smartphone assistance capture box. After that, performs segmentation applying accelerated mean-shift algorithm. Specifically, outline determined based skin color, boundary found using simple connected region detection method. Within boundary, status next assessed red–yellow–black color evaluation model. Moreover, quantitatively assessed, trend time records for given patient. Experimental results collected UMASS—Memorial Health Center Wound Clinic (Worcester, MA) following Institutional Review Board approved protocol show our be efficiently used analyze promising accuracy.
